When it comes to Halloween, it can be a mixed bag. On the one hand, its fun to dress up and walk around the neighborhood with your kids. On the other, you never know who is going to take their costume to the next level and potentially scare the heck out of your kids, leaving you with weeks of nightmares. But there are plenty of ways to have fun on this spooky holiday that doesn’t involve blood, scary monsters or witches. One of those is to sit down with a great bowl of popcorn and watch a Halloween-themed movie! Even in the midst of some of the most classic scary movies, there are tons of family friendly ones that integrate the fun aspect of Halloween without invoking night terrors. Be advised that not all of these films are appropriate for all ages. Check out this great list and get planning your upcoming movie night!

3. Frankenweenie
Now THIS is a film I remember from my childhood. Most kids would get creeped out watching the original Frankenstein from the 30’s, but not this spoofed version! This short movie tells the tale of a boy and his dog, and how he lovingly tries to bring back his best friend after an accident. It’s both a sweet and spooky story and perfect for Halloween!
