Your bedroom should be a place of refuge, somewhere you can retreat to after a long day to have a nice hot shower or bath and curl up with a good book. If you dread walking into your bedroom because of outdated furniture or a paint color you’ve been meaning to change, it’s time to spruce up your sleeping space. Here are a few ideas to help you brighten your bedroom without breaking the bank.
1. Declutter
Clutter is the enemy of a comfortable sleeping space. It could be anything — too many pillows, a pile of laundry sitting on the only available sitting space or a desk covered with bills and paperwork, just to name a few. Take the time to get everything not related to sleeping out of your room. Put your clothes away. Clear away old bills that should have been tossed months ago.
2. Practice Cord Management
Power cords are pretty much the ugliest thing in the world. If you’ve got a bunch of cords hanging down from the back of your desk or nightstand, practice good cord management. Get some Velcro straps to tie them together or look into fabric wrapped cords to turn these unsightly power sources into part of your décor.
3. Tapestry Delight
Bare walls might look clean, but they tend to detract from the homey feel of your bedroom. To cut down on that clinical air, consider hanging some tapestries in your bedroom. They add a bit of color, cut down on the reflectivity of lightly colored walls and even add some minor soundproofing.
