10. Painless Painting
What color is your bedroom? What about your bedroom furniture? If you don’t like the answer to either question, it can be fixed with some paint, some primer and some elbow grease. For the bedroom, consider a warm color like yellow or orange to add warmth to your bedroom and make it more welcoming.
For furniture, you’re only limited by your imagination. Paint it a new color, sand it down and stain it or go for a distressed shabby chic look — it’s totally up to you.
11. Theme Park Play
One great way to refresh your bedroom is to rework your entire decorating plan with a theme in mind — it could be your favorite movie, TV show, season or vacation spot. Maybe you love the beach — a beach-themed bedroom complete with a white noise machine that plays ocean noise could make your bedroom into your own personal haven.
12. Minor Reflection
Mirrors are a great tool for making any room look larger than it is. If you’re feeling a little bit cramped in your bedroom, consider adding a mirror or two to the walls to get that illusion of extra space. The mirrors bounce the light around and make the space feel bigger. Even if you know it’s just an illusion, it can be a great way to make the most out of a cramped space without actually knocking down walls.
13. No Work Zone
Normally we’d recommend leaving your work at work, but, if bringing work home can’t be avoided, make sure you keep it out of your bedroom. If your desk is in the bedroom, move it somewhere else. Don’t sit in your bed and answer work emails. Don’t do any work in the place where you sleep — make your bedroom a place for dreams.
It doesn’t take much to refresh your bedroom, and much of it can be done with things you already have on hand. Taking the time to spruce up your sleeping space can make it that much easier to sleep at night.
