I feel like a broken record because I say this every year when the seasons change, but I can’t believe it’s almost winter! Where have the glorious days of fall gone? The days are getting darker sooner, and with the winter cold front that’s going to blow in soon, it’s time to start thinking about ways to stay warm and stylish. For me, the idea of heading anywhere when it’s cold outside is not very appealing. You’ve got to bundle up, pile on the layers and then you start sweating before you start freezing again.
However, date nights are really important in a relationship, and busy mamas need that adult time. Cold weather is no excuse for skipping date night, it’s just a challenge that you’ve got to learn to overcome. So before you consider throwing in the towel on your love life, take a look at these fashionable outfits that are perfect for a date night in the winter weather.

1. Elegant & Sexy
Not only is velvet soft and warm, the elegant fabric is one of the biggest winter trends this year. Go with a velvet top or dress in a rich red or purple to really embrace the winter color palette, and pair with over the knee boots to add a touch of sexiness to your outfit. If you’re worried about exposing your hot mama legs in the cold weather, add a pair of dark printed tights to your ensemble.

2. Traditional + Edgy
No matter how traditional your style is, you can pull off a pair of leather pants. (No, not literally.) You can totally rock them without feeling out of place by pairing them with a top that is more in line with your style. Even if you go with faux leather, you’ll still give your look an edge and show off your womanly curves. Add a chiffon blouse for an element of femininity and complete your outfit with a pair of sexy pumps.

3. Modest Mama
If your style is modest, and you don’t like the idea of dressing up in a way that feels too sexy, you can still look fabulous on date night and stick to your own style status quo. Put on your favorite dress, throw on a pair of tights, add jewelry and a clutch purse and slip into a pair of heels. You’ll be dressed up and ready for a romantic evening, but you’ll still feel comfortable in your own skin.

4. Pastel Winter Colors
If you look better in pastels than you do in dark colors, incorporate that into your winter date night outfit. A classy blouse in an icy blue or mint green will bring out your best features, and will look lovely against a wintry background. Wear a pair of matching pastel pumps to balance out your look, and rock a pair of figure flattering jeans to accentuate your lower half.

5. Double Duty Duds
If you’re headed to date night right after work, you can do double duty with your look. Wear a floral (or other feminine print) pant suit that is work appropriate, and then trade in your corporate heels for a pair of pumps or stilettos instead.
