5. Stuffing
Most of us probably rely on Mrs. Cubbison’s boxed stuffing mix to get our bird stuffed (no shame in that! Mrs. Cubbison is clearly a pro and I’m so glad she’s shared her recipe with the rest of us). Native Americans and the Pilgrims were also no stranger to stuffing birds, and probably used herbs and onions. Americans now take their cues from those early Thanksgiving and the English who were known to stuff their birds with oats.
