Trunk or Treating is the new Trick or Treating. Instead of dressing up and traipsing around your local neighborhood, Trunk or Treating provides a great way to come together as a church, club or local community and allow kids to dress up and get tons of candy, without the “stranger danger” of going door to door. Personally, I’ve only come across Trunk or Treating at church, where families line up their cars and decorate their trunk and hand out candy. It’s super fun to see everyone get creative and the kids love it! If you’re participating in a Trunk or Treat even this year, check out some of these awesome design ideas!

1. It’s The Great Pumpkin Trunk, Charlie Brown!

Charlie Brown is a staple in our house, come the holidays and that’s why I seriously love this trunk or treat design! It’s got all the makings of this classic cartoon: Linus, Snoopy and a pretty large pumpkin! This is a fun trunk decorating idea that is perfect for little kids because it’s not scary.

2. Candy Land!

Every kid’s dream is to step into a real live Candy Land and you can make that happen with this adorable trunk design. Tons of colors, some carefully placed rainbow backdrops and simple printed squares really make you feel like you’re heading towards Gumdrop Mountain. Your trunk will be the hot spot this Halloween.

3. Minecraft

As far as I know, Minecraft is still a hit game with the kiddos. If they love it, it makes the perfect theme for your trunk or treat! Use a cardboard box and printout to make the oversized heads of your favorite characters, as well as other blocks for the game. The best thing about this theme is that most everything is square (it IS a building game, after all) so you don’t need a ton of crafting skill to have a great looking trunk.
