8 Ridiculously Awesome Tree Houses For Kids

by Karly Wood October 2, 2015

Your imagination is never wilder and brighter than when you’re a kid. Even though our current generation has many things that keep them busy indoors, like gaming, music lessons and cell phones, there are still just as many opportunities to be creative outside. One of those ways is through playing in a treehouse. I don’t know a single kid who wouldn’t LOVE to have one in their backyard, especially us Southern Californian’s who barely have yards to begin with. These designs are seriously fantastical and probably something the marjory of us will never have in our yards. But they are still fun to look at, so let your imagination get to work!

1. Haven In The Sky

The story behind this house is even more amazing then it’s appearance. Keeping the health of the tree in mind as they designed and built their grandsons the most amazing treehouse of all time, this family created a house complete with kitchen, air conditioning, sleeping spaces and filled with beautiful vintage decor. I’d be happy selling my own home to live here!

2. “Too Good For The Kids”

This tree house isn’t just for kids, with its 4 large windows, pulley system and LED lighted deck. Any child or adult would find ample room to play imaginative games with their friends either inside the tree house or on the amazing scramble net.

Check out BlueForest.com for some more of the most amazing tree houses you’ve ever seen.

3. Slide Away Tree House

Everyone knows that making an exit is half the fun, and this tree house has it all. You can climb down of course, but wouldn’t it be more fun to use this huge, curving slide? Not only do kids get to enjoy the tree house itself, but also the built in swing set and basketball hoop underneath. Now that’s using your tree wisely!

Visit BHG.com for more tips on safely building your kids their own outside oasis.

4. Roundabout

Though the concept of this design is simple, it still wows you with its impressiveness. Kids would love using the rope latter and getting a full 365 degree view. I know I would!

5. Hobbit Inspired House

Some of our dreamiest ideas come from books we read, and thats where the design for this whimsical tree house came from. It was featured in an issue of Architectural Digest and the creator states his children’s love of J.R.R. Tolkien’s famous work, The Hobbit. Everything inside is child (aka Hobbit) sized and offers a refuge for really anyone who wants to sneak away once in while.

6. Hideaway

Not all of us are blessed with large trees that can actually hold a tree house, so we have to get creative and put one “amongst” the trees. I love how this design incorporates nature but is also modestly sized. The space underneath, slide to exit and cute step ladder make this a great addition to anyone’s backyard.

Check out TheHandmadeHome.net for a full photo tour of this amazing backyard bungalow.

7. A Tree Runs Through It

You can’t let a little thing like a tree house get in the way of a tree, so make sure you give it plenty of room in your design. I love how this designer decided to incorporate the tree into the house and not just around it.

8. A For To Be Reckoned With

Barbara Butler and her design team have been building play structures and tree houses since the late 1980’s using all natural redwood.  This design is called “Fort Santa Barbara” and is designed around a large tree. It even comes with a zip line!
