Staying at home has been the norm for many of us around the world in recent months – and it is all too easy for us to stick to what we know with pajamas and a messy bun. However, now and again it is good for us to make an effort and try to hone our style and sense of fashion. In over a year, a lot of us haven’t had much call to dress up, and this can have an impact on our confidence.
When we finally are able to go out again, will we forget how to do our makeup or worry about finding an outfit?! If you think this might be the case for you, we want to help you get inspired to look and feel your best self—even if you’re stuck at home.
Stay at home this weekend and make your own fun event to dress up for with your partner or your family.
Cook a tasty meal
First of all, you will want something to be the center of your evening. A dinner party is a great idea so you can have fun making your own 3 course meal for the family and make everyone dress up for the fun. It will bring some excitement to an otherwise repetitive weekend night at home and will allow you to have some fun with flavor.
Open a bottle of wine—or even champs!
There is nothing better for celebration than a glass of good wine—or champagne if you’re feeling fancy. Choose your favorite wine and open it up for a lovely accompaniment to your meal.
Give your hair some TLC
Now it’s time to start getting ready. As you might for a night out – your first job is to have a shower and wash your hair. Before you do this though, apply a hair mask and a face mask and wait for 30 minutes. Get in the shower and wash these both off and end up with clearer skin and silky strands to play with in front of the mirror.
Want to try a DIY hair mask? Here are five awesome ideas to try!
Get styling
There are so many amazing ways to play with your hair and make the most of this time in front of the mirror. You could opt for a straight style which won’t take too long or you could go a little more fun with a curly style in one of many ways. If you have a few hours until your night begins you could try a heatless curling style using a dress in gown or pins. If you want to use heat you can curl your hair in many simple ways to get different effects.
From the simple 5 minute curling routine to a more intensive style – have fun with your hair and use Pinterest to help you find the right method for you. This is one of the most fun parts of getting ready because there is so much you can do with your hair to make it look amazing.
Up your foundation game
Foundation is the most important part of your makeup – and if you are to create a stunning look you need to get this base right first. If you have not put makeup on for a while you might be a little rusty here, but taking your time with your foundation is worth the work. Start with some moisturiser on the skin. Then apply your foundation and take your time blending it in.
Add concealer under the eyes and anywhere else you want to highlight. Now it is time to set your foundation. Use a transparent powder to set the entire face before applying some contour, blush, and highlighter. Apply highlighter also to the nose, Cupid’s bow, and inner eye. This will give you a lovely finish that’s both dewy and natural.
Create a smokey eye look as if you’re out on the town
Smokey eyeshadow is fun to create and it will make a huge difference to your face—and it’s sure to turn your partner’s head! Take a piece of tape and place this diagonally under the eye before you begin to avoid fallout. Now start adding dark colours to the outer corner and blend with lighter colours towards the centre. Gently remove the tape and add some dark color under the lower lashes. Apply lashes (optional for extra fun)—and voila!
Dress to impress—have some fun!
When considering how to look classy on a budget, there are so many ways to dress up your outfit to look stunning without breaking the bank. For example: a simple top and jeans can be elevated immediately with a pair of heels and some gold rings. A simple LBD can be brought to life with a choker and a basic jacket. Enjoy playing with the clothes you have in your wardrobe and don’t be afraid to make some risky choices – you are at home after all!
