Kitchen Remodeling: 6 Trends that are Here to Stay

When talking about upcoming trends, not everyone will focus on the kitchen. Kitchens are often taken for granted, even though they’re quite essential for the happiness and well-being of one’s family. After all, we tend to cook there, eat there, spend quality time with family, and go there for a quiet cup of coffee or some Internet browsing.

Therefore, if you’re planning to remodel your home in the future, it would be great if you could pay attention to your kitchen. Here are 6 kitchen remodeling trends that are here to stay.

1. Focus on layered lighting

Layered lighting is a method of lighting the space by using three different lights: overall, task, and accent.

Overall lighting is the one that lights up the whole room and is often used when having people around. Task lighting, as the name suggests, is the type of lighting used for specific tasks such as cooking and reading. And accent lighting is a decorative layer of lighting used to highlight various interesting points in your room, such as artwork.

Now, since kitchens are often cozy spots where people love to congregate or even work, using these types of lighting accordingly can be a great way to renovate your kitchen and breathe new life into it.

2. Consider getting a breakfast bar

Having a big table is wonderful, especially if you enjoy hosting dinner parties for your friends. However, since most of the time we tend to eat by ourselves or with our closest family members, getting a breakfast bar can be quite practical and useful.

Since many kitchens tend to have a kitchen island, a breakfast bar is a natural evolution of this practice: Merging these two together can give you an extra space to store your kitchen items, while also providing you with a cute and comfortable space where you can eat your meals in peace.

3. If you want more elegance, opt for quartz countertops

Cooking is often a messy business, so if your old countertops are covered in scratches, don’t worry. This is considered normal! If  you’re looking to get countertops that are resistant to burns and scratches, you should definitely opt for quartz kitchen countertops. For example, crushed quartz is a stone that is mixed with resin in order to produce quality countertops in colors that resemble real granite.

4. For those who have limited resources, changing handles can be a welcome update

Sometimes, remodeling your kitchen can be an arduous and expensive process. Instead of wishing to do things that are way over your budget, you can implement small changes and give your kitchen a whole new look.

Maybe you haven’t paid much attention to handles. But the truth is, they can be used as a decor element if you know which ones to choose. For example, opting for square slim bar kitchen cupboard handles can be a creative way to modernize your kitchen, especially if you prefer minimalist touches in your home.

5. Picturesque wallpapers can be a great replacement for wall painting

Repainting your whole kitchen to give it a new look can be quite stressful, mainly if you use your kitchen on a daily basis. Still, your kitchen definitely deserves a makeover, and adding colorful wallpapers is a perfect way to achieve that. Although some people are reluctant to use them in the kitchen, they’re slowly gaining momentum among interior design trendsetters.

Now, since wallpapers are a more permanent solution, you can opt for stick-and-peel ones. These versions are easy to apply and remove. If you don’t know which pattern to go for, you can choose one that resembles the pattern of your kitchen tiles. That way, you’ll provide your kitchen with a unique sense of cohesiveness and unity.

6. Make your kitchen pop with some colorful elements

An all-white kitchen is an ultimate and everlasting trend. However, adding a few colorful accents can breathe new life into your kitchen space without much effort.

Whether you opt for colorful pottery or furniture, adding brightly colored elements is a trend that is here to stay. And if you like more subdued tones, you can always go with powder blue or blonde yellow.

Final thoughts

These trends will likely change the way your kitchen looks and feels. So feel free to incorporate some of them next time you decide to renovate. Just remember that even though these trends are here to stay, you should always rely on your tastes and your family’s needs,  as that’s the sure way to have a kitchen of your dreams.
