When her son began crying when she left the room, this mom decided to leave a cardboard cutout with him to see what happens.
Any mama knows that squeezing in a little bit of that oh-so-valuable alone time can be a big struggle when there are little ones depending on you at all times. Sometimes it can be difficult to sneak away for just a few minutes.
Some kids struggle with separation anxiety more than others, and how each child deals with it varies. Some kids will internalize their anxious feelings, while there are others who begin whaling the second mom walks out of the room. But there comes a time, for the sake of everyone involved, to come up with a solution. This is what @sato_nezi on Twitter and Fuki Sato, a dad and mom from Japan, decided to do.
According to Metro.co.uk, the child’s father posted a series of images and a video that depict the genius plan they came up with to help their son remain calm while his mother was away. His post soon went viral.
Their plan was simple, leave a cardboard cut-out of Fuki in the room with her son and walk away. Here is the result:
In his post, the father explained that their one-year-old would cry as soon as his mom disappeared. Amazingly, with the cardboard cut-out, Fuki was able to leave the room for 20 minutes at a time and check-in whenever the son was away. And for those who might be concerned, don’t worry. The father was there with the boy.
The father also posted a video. You can view the whole post and the video here:
