With the kids staying home during the winter vacation, we’re always looking for fun ways to keep them busy. While craft projects in themselves are quite entertaining, making some seasonal crafts are sure to make the kids more fascinated with it. These crafts are easy to make and require little supervision. The best part is that since they’re all recycled, they use up materials that might have just been thrown away otherwise!

Paper Roll Snowman

What you’ll need:

  • Toilet paper roll or Kitchen towel roll cut in half
  • White paper or paint
  • Small piece of orange paper
  • Any colorful paper
  • Black felt
  • Small black jar cap
  • Googly eyes (optional)

Here’s how to use these simple materials to create a fun snowman toy to play with:

Step 1:

Take the paper roll and either paint it white or wrap it with white paper.

Step 2:

From the black felt, cut out a circle that is a little bit larger than the paper roll.

Step 3:

Glue this circular piece of felt to one end of the paper roll. On top of the black felt, glue the jar cap.

Step 4:

Cut a strip from the colorful paper and wrap it around the white roll to form a scarf. Glue it in place.

Step 5:

Stick the googly eyes in place or draw the eyes on with black markers. For the nose, create a cone from orange paper and stick it below the eyes.

Add any additional décor if you want and that’s it!

Snow Globe

What you’ll need:

  • Baby food jar
  • Water
  • Glycerine
  • Glitter
  • Small house figurine

This craft is great to use up all those baby food jars that keep piling up!

Step 1:

Glue the house onto the inside of the lid. Make sure the adhesive is able to work on plastic.

Step 2:

Fill the jar with water and pour a couple drops of glycerine.

Step 4:

After the the house figurine is firmly set to the lid, close the jar with the lid in place.

Give it a shake and marvel at the snowy world that has been created inside!

Paper Roll Snowflake

These snowflakes are extremely easy to make and would be perfect to make many at once!

What you’ll need:

  • Toilet paper roll or kitchen towel roll
  • White paint
  • Glitter
  • Glue or stapler
  • String

Step 1:

Color the paper roll with white paint.

Step 2:

Cut the paper roll into 6 pieces as shown. Pinch the ends to form a petal shape.

Step 3:

Staple or glue the sides of the pieces together to make up a flower pattern.

Step 4:

Take a few cut up pieces and cut them in half. Stick these smaller pieces in between the joints of the larger pieces. Feel free to add as many pieces as you’d like to create your very own unique snowflakes.

Step 5:

Add glitter to the top edges as well as any other decoration you want. Use a string to hang this snowflake from the wall or in front of a window!
