Pumpkins will be making their grand entrance into our lives any day now. And if you’re like me, you get excited about the seeds even more than the pumpkins (I love to roast them and eat them). But if you’re not into pumpkin seeds as a snack, maybe you’ll enjoy them as a seasonal craft. I had no idea there were so many ways to use pumpkin seeds!

After you’ve carved those pumpkins and prepared the seeds for use, try one of these fun projects so those pumpkin seeds get just as much love as their pumpkin parents.

1. Fall Tree Art

This project is two-fold. You’ll first want to dye the pumpkin seeds so you’ll have a nice selection of colors to play with. Then, use them to create a gorgeous work of fall tree art with your kids that the refrigerator will be proud to display.

Head over to Fun-A-Day for a link to dyeing instructions, as well as tips on designing your tree art.

2. Poinsettia Ornaments

I know it isn’t Christmas yet, but it’s never too early to start thinking about the holiday. (Christmas in July, anyone?) That’s why this pumpkin seed poinsettia craft is awesome. For people like me who love Christmas, this is a great way to get into the holiday spirit. You can hang these pretty poinsettias on your tree or use them to adorn wrapped gifts. Either way, it’s time to get your ho-ho-holiday on!

Check out the full project details over at Fireflies and Jellybeans.

3. Rainbow Mosaics

Did someone say rainbow? You’ve got my attention! I love colorful art pieces, and these pumpkin seed mosaics are no exception. This is a craft project, bonding activity and learning opportunity all rolled into one. You’ll need Crayola Magic Modeling Compound and colored pumpkin seeds. After you’ve worked your magic, use this creation as a coaster, a paper weight or a cute piece of fall home decor.

Everything you need to know is over at Mini Monets and Mommies.

4. Bracelet

I had no idea you could make jewelry from pumpkin seeds! If I had a tween daughter, I would totally do this craft with her. What a fun way to wear fall around your wrist. So creative!

You can find the instructions on making this over at The Village Family Magazine.

5. Puzzles

For smaller children, this is a great craft that works on number recognition. Make a few pumpkins out of orange construction paper, cut them in half with puzzle style edges, then glue pumpkin seeds to one half, and the corresponding number on the other. Kids will enjoy trying to match the seeds to the correct number, and you’ll feel good about them learning.

Take a look at I Can Teach My Child for more great ways to make learning fun.

6. Wall Art

For creative mamas like me, this pumpkin seed craft is something I would do with or without my kids. It’s so fun and unique! You don’t have to dye the seeds for this project, you can decorate them with gel pens. Talk about easy peasy!

Stop by Willowday to see how this craft can add a punch of colorful fun to any room!

7. Sun Catcher

What makes a pumpkin seed craft even more fun? Sequins! I think sequins make anything more fun. Whether you like sequins or not, this craft is a great activity for working on fine motor skills with your kiddos. You’ll need some clear contact paper, along with your sequins and dyed pumpkin seeds.

You’ll find the how-to for this project over at Sugar Aunts.
