One of the hardest parts about having a busy family is how difficult it can be to carve time out to spend with your partner. And on the off chance that you do get the time, both of you are probably way too tired to enjoy an exciting night out on the town. Gone are the days of dive bar concerts and midnight mini golf. Most of us are fully content to spend an evening in bed binge watching shows on Netflix.
Being able to get away from the kids for a little while and get back to yourselves from time to time is important, but that doesn’t mean you have to go completely crazy. Here are a few sure-fire ways to spend a night out with your love without breaking the bank or tiring yourselves out even more!
1. Take An Evening Stroll In the Park
Usually, as parents, our only real time to enjoy the park is with our kids at the playground or during birthday parties. Weather permitting, spend your date night enjoying a nice, simple stroll through a gorgeous park. This date is not only super romantic, but also very cheap as well. Have a deep conversation, laugh a little, and enjoy the time alone. Of course, if you’re too tired to follow a trail, you can always park yourselves on a bench and do a little people watching.
2. Go To The Spa
What place is more relaxing than the spa? If you and your partner are looking to relax away from home and away from the kids, look into visiting a local spa. While couples messages are always popular, you can also enjoy things like mani-pedis and facials. If money is an issue, you can always check out sites like Groupon to find great coupons or enjoy one service at the spa instead of multiple ones.
3. Stay At Home
Send the kids to grandma’s house and have yourself a mini stay-cation. If you’re a parent, odds are that are about a million tv shows and movies that you need to catch up on and plenty of wine that you’re itching to drink. There’s no place cheaper, easier, and better for a tired couple to spend their time than on the comfort of their own couch. Any space can be romantic if you make it so. Light a few candles, grab some blankets, and hunker down for a quiet evening in with the one you love.
4. Go Have Dessert
Sometimes, going out to dinner can be an ordeal that is more tiring than it should be. If you and your partner aren’t really feeling up to getting dressed up and visiting a restaurant, just go get dessert instead. You can stay in your lounge clothes and visit a quiet little restaurant and enjoy a nice piece of cake and some coffee without having to worry about making reservations or paying a huge bill.
