One of the best parts of ringing in the New Year is being able to look forward to everything coming forward in the not-so-distant future. For some, that means getting excited about all of the upcoming family plans and the start of your New Years resolutions for others it means being super psyched at all of the awesome movies you get to see with your families.

Whether your family prefers to spend your movie nights cuddled up on the couch with tons of blankets and snacks or you guys love taking the trip to your favorite movie theater, 2017 is already looking to be a great year when it comes to family movies. Live action remakes of our old favorites and enough cartoons to make every kiddo happy. The movies on this list are just a few of our favorites but we totally recommend checking out as many as you can!

1. Beauty and The Beast

Rated – PG

Premiere Date – March 17, 2017

While they definitely have a lot to live up to, live action adaptations of iconic cartoons are always a super fun experience. When it comes to Beauty and The Beast, the excitement is tenfold because of the crazy talking housewares and scary but lovable beast. Featuring the ever lovely Emma Watson, 2017’s Beauty and The Beast remake is shaping up to be just as fun. beautiful, and romantic as the classic cartoon.

 

2. Despicable Me 3

Rated – Not Yet Rated

Premiere Date – June 30, 2017

The Despicable Me series has everything kids love. Adorable child characters, silly adults, gorgeous animation, and of course, Minions. The third movie will feature all of the old characters everyone loves along with a new antagonist that is sure to cause some major giggles. While we don’t know too much about the overall plot yet, we know that it will be a “can’t miss” movie of the summer season this year.

 

3. Power Rangers

Rated – Not Yet Rated 

Premiere Date – March 24, 2017

Whether in cartoon form or live action, the Power Rangers have been entertaining adults and children alike with their colorful suits and crime-fighting bravery. While a little more modern, the new Power Rangers reboot set to premiere this year will feature the same old awesomeness. This film is a must-see for any hardcore action and adventure fans in your home.

 

4. The Lego Batman Movie

Rated – PG

Premiere Date – February 10, 2017

Depending on the ages and sensibilities of your kids, the current Batman depictions may be a little too dark and mature for them to enjoy right now. Luckily, the geniuses at Warner Bros. have provided the world with a family-friendly version that combines two childhood favorites. Legos and superheroes collide in the best way possible in this adorable, action-packed film.

 

5. A Dog’s Purpose

Rated – PG

Premiere Date – January 27, 2017

It is entirely possible that your kiddos will leave the theater wanting one or multiple new pups after seeing this movie, so you should definitely be prepared for that. The story, essentially about a dog being reincarnated, helping his owners fall in love, discover themselves, and find happiness. Without spoiling the film too much, we can tell you that it is already shaping up to be one of the best feel good films of the year.

 

6. Cars 3

Rated – Not Yet Rated 

Premiere Date – June 16, 2017

About six years since the last Cars movie, this sequel is much anticipated by everyone who is a huge lover of Pixar films. Without even a full-length trailer yet, the overall plot is a little mysterious but we know that our favorite Lightning McQueen and Mater will be back in full force.

 

7. Spider-Man: Homecoming

Rated – Not Yet Rated 

Premiere Date – July 7. 2017

We know, we know it seems like a new Spider-Man remake happens every couple of years these days, but that doesn’t make this one any less promising. With a cast full of funny teens and the ever charismatic and adorably nerdy Peter Parker, this Spider-Man seems simultaneously less dark but more action-packed than its predecessors.
