Of the many things no one tells you when you become a mother, it’s the awful feeling of being judged as a less than perfect mom. Most of your pregnancy, you aren’t necessarily focused on yourself, so it comes as a bit of a shock when you start to hear comments that aren’t always positive. If you’re a mom, you know what I’m talking about and this phenomenon has morphed into what we un-lovingly call “The Mommy Wars.” For every choice you make, there is another mom who will make the opposite, and that’s ok. This video, created by the Similac, is a breathtaking glimpse into the lives of several new moms and what happens when they meet and share their stories.
I think we can all agree this film was moving for many reasons. Not only do I hope that all of us moms can embrace sharing the “Sisterhood of Motherhood” but that we give ourselves a break too. We will never be the perfect mother, but we will be just what our kids need and that’s enough for me.
