Before the fun begins on Christmas morning, get in the holiday spirit with some fun Christmas games that all the family members can enjoy! Whether you’re hosting a small pre-Christmas bash at your house with friends, or just celebrating with your hubby and kids, these fun-filled activities will have everyone “laughing all the way!”

1. Pin The Nose On Rudolph

If you’ve ever played “pin the tail on the donkey,” you’re familiar with the concept of the game. This Christmas theme version is adorable and fun! You can get really creative with the set up, and use many items you already have around the house to play with.

Head over to A Girl & A Glue Gun for more holiday fun ideas!

2. Candy Cane Hunt

We do Easter egg hunts on Easter, and go hunting for candy on Halloween. At Christmastime, it’s all about finding candy canes. You can simply hide them around your house and have your kids find them, or turn it into a learning opportunity by having them count all the ones they collect.

Check out Toddler Approved to find more ways to make learning fun!

3. Christmas Memory Game

This is one of my favorite Christmas party games. Ever been to a baby or bridal shower and played the “how many things can you remember from the tray” game? The idea is really simple. You put a bunch of seasonal/theme items on a tray, pass it around for people to memorize, and then take the tray away. Ask everyone to write down all the items they can remember and whoever gets the most correct wins!

You’ll find more Christmas games and activities at Sweet And Simple Things.

4. Trim The Tree

Kids love playing dress up, and that’s why this game is so much fun! You split into two teams, and have each team choose a member to be the “human tree.” Pull out green party streamers, gift bows and other “trimmings,” and have each team dress up their volunteer. Whoever gets the tree decorated first wins.

5. Photo Booth

Using a photo booth isn’t technically a game, but you can kind of turn it into a fun activity. You don’t need to rent a professional booth. Just set up a DIY version in your living room and capture the fun on camera. Use seasonal props and get as silly as you want. Guests at a Christmas party would totally get a kick out of this idea!

6. Make Ugly Christmas Sweaters

This idea is especially good if you’re planning to attend an ugly Christmas sweater party. Get the family together with a bunch of plain sweaters, break out the craft supplies, and have fun decorating your very own ugly sweaters. This is a great family bonding activity that will provide plenty of laughter and memories to last a lifetime. These are a perfect addition to any holiday party!

7. Printable Escape Room

The newest trend in the world of tabletop and puzzle games. They are perfect opportunity for family bonding time for the Christmas holidays. These games bring so much joy and excitement far from the computer screens and tablets. Just because it’s Christmas time, or even Christmas eve, doesn’t mean we can’t a fun time in an escape room!

You can get ready to play downloadable escape room kits from Escape Room Geeks.

BONUS: Christmas Scattergories for Kids

The holiday season is not complete without this fun game! Play with just a few people or the whole family, these free printable Christmas games can be a great way to pass some time under the Christmas tree. Here is what you will need:

  • Printable games can be found here (instant download available on site)
  • If you don’t have a home printer, make some time to do this at work or at a local print shop
  • Pencils or pens
  • Timer (Yes, there is usually a time limit!)

Now that you have your Christmas scattergories lists all printed out, you need to know the instructions on how to play:

instructions:

1.Print out the alphabet page and give every player a copy.
2. Set the timer for 3-8 minutes, depending on the age of the players. (For younger children, set the timer for longer.)
3. Write down as many Christmas words as you can think of from A-Z. Try to choose unique words that no one else will think of.
4. When the timer beeps, each player shares their answers. You get a point for each word that no other player used. Whoever got the most unique words wins the game.

Note: Like the version above, you can choose to give two points for double letter words like “candy cane” for the letter C.

BONUS #2: Christmas Bingo

This is another fun printable Christmas game that is just a clever spin on a family game night classic! I couldn’t think of a better way to get large groups together this holiday season then Bingo! Everyone pretty much knows the rules of Bingo and it’s a fun way for someone to dress as Santa and yell some random letter of the alphabet and number at everyone LOL! At the end of the game, make sure all hug and sing some holiday songs together.

We have free digital downloads here for you

This is a short list of our favorite games to play throughout the Christmas season! Get the older kids and younger kids involved during Christmas break and watch as these games turn into some of their favorite things!
