The other day I was helping my neighbor clean and organize her garage when we came across a stash of paint samples. The Pinterest in me had to stop her before she tried to get rid of them because I just KNOW there are so many cute things you can do with small amounts of leftover paint! Sure enough, there are tons of fun way to use your paint samples that are cute but will also coordinate with your home. You don’t have to go out and buy “craft paint” to get the job done, just use what you already have hanging out in the garage! Check out this small list before tossing that old paint.

1. Bright Wall Dot Art
The two best parts about this craft is that you can totally customize it to your homes colors (remember these ARE the shades in the family of the paint color you probably chose for your home!) and your kids can do all the painting. Just take sheets of paper and have the kids paint all over it. Then take a whole punch and cut out circles. Line them in whatever design you want and pop in a frame! This is a totally unique piece that won’t waste that old paint.

2. Painted Picture Frames
Add some color to those thrift store or just boring frames you have lying around the house. You can paint them all white first, and then add some accent colors, or just add to your already colorful collection by adding cute corners. These are so cute and definitely a unique way to add color to your home.

3. Abstract Seasonal Canvas Art
I’ve always been jealous of people who manage to swap out their wall art year round, with holidays and to highlight things like Pantone’s Color of the Year. Turns out, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to be one of those people! Just buy a canvas in whatever size you want, and whip out those paint samples for some creative painting!

4. Painted Terracotta Pots
Terracotta pots are functional, but not necessarily pretty. If your backyard needs a little sprucing up, use some painters tape to create a design that you like. Then just paint away, wait for the paint to get tacky and remove the tape! You will have unique and beautiful pots for your gorgeous flowers.

5. Colorful Garden Border
The other think you probably have hanging out in your garage is leftover lumber from some random project. You can create a whimsical border for your planter, and its made even easier by the fact that you don’t have to cut all the boards the same length OR do a fabulous painting job. In fact, the most uneven and vintage-style painting, the better!

6. Painted Vases
Now that I’m talking about things that practically every woman has lying around her house, the list is growing. Most of us have tons of clear glass vases that are probably pretty generic looking, and can use a little beautifying. Take some of your old paint and pour it inside that boring clear glass vase. Swirl around until it coats the entire thing and tip upside down to drain well. Allow to dry and then fill with some fake flowers! Now you have a vase you’ll actually use!

7. Paint Chair Spindles
I personally have a boring, adult dining room set that is pretty and “grown up” looking. But if I had my way, I’d have a table and chairs like Monica Geller (from Friends, you know, the BEST sitcom ever) and I’d paint my spindles just like this! You need minimal paint, which is why paint samples are just perfect. They look bright and cheery, and oh so unique.
