Pool noodles are one of the most versatile items ever made. It seems like every time I’m looking on Pinterest I see a new use for them that’s completely genius. What’s really awesome about them is that they are cheap! You can buy them at the dollar store for only $1. It doesn’t get much better than that. One of their best uses is to play outdoor games with them. It’s the perfect thing to do when the weather is nice outside, especially for the kiddos. We’ve rounded up 7 of the best outdoor pool noodle games for you to try as the weather gets nicer this spring and summer.
1. Field Hockey
For some reason kids love hitting balls with sticks, bats, paddles, I could go on and on. It seems like every chance my son gets he’s hitting a ball with something even in our house! That makes field hockey with pool noodles the perfect game for kids. Just blow up a ballon for the puck, or use a large bouncy ball, turn some laundry baskets or boxes on their side for the goals and let your kids run free with the noodles as their hockey sticks. They’ll love all the running, dodging, and hitting during this game and it’ll keep them entertained for hours.

2. Pool Noodle Ring Toss
Ring toss is always a fun game, even for adults. Just set up a few cut pool noodles in your yard, then tape a few noodles end to end with some duct tape and you’re ready to play. This would be a fun game for adults and older kids to play at an outdoor party and the best part is that it’s cheap to make. You can leave it set up in your backyard (or even at the beach!) to play all summer long and as people come visit you’ll constantly have something to do.

3. Javelin Toss
If you really want a challenging, but fun game to play with the pool noodles, set up a javelin toss. Let the kids throw pool noodles through the rings over and over and make them scoot back each time so it gets harder and more challenging each time. This certainly won’t be an easy game, but that’s part of the reason why it will keep them entertained for so long. They’ll be determined to get the noodles through those rings.

4. Bowling
Everyone loves bowling, especially when you can play the game outside at a party for free! Set up a bowling lane with some pool noodles, then use whatever you can find for the pins and ball. I guarantee your kids could play this for hours as they compete with each other to see who can get the highest score or the most strikes.

5. Water Balloon Tennis
This game is perfect for those hot days when you want to be outside, but in order to do so you need a way to cool off. Your kids can play water balloon tennis with the pool noodles, and as the balloons break they’ll get splashed, wet, and cooled off. Perfect for a hot, sunny day in my opinion.

6. Lightsaber Sword Fighting
What kid doesn’t love Star Wars? Even if they haven’t actually seen the movies, they know the characters because they’re everywhere. Plus, Star Wars has those really cool lightsabers that every kid covets. Can you imagine how much fun your kids will have playing outside pretending that they have lightsabers as they fight each other?
