When I was expecting my little girl, I didn’t know anything about baby wearing. Then a close friend of mine had her baby and would wear her little one in a sling all the time. I thought it was the sweetest thing ever, and not to mention, she made all the normal everyday tasks (you know like eating, walking and cleaning), look like a breeze. This began my obsession into baby wearing. It can be a bit overwhelming with all the different options and can even take a bit if getting used to in the beginning, so don’t be intimidated if your all fingers and thumbs the first few times. Keep practicing at home and soon it will become second nature. If you are new to the world of baby wearing and looking for a carrier to start, check out the list below and see which one may fit you best.

1. Solly Baby Wrap
The Solly Wrap is a one size fits all, buttery soft and easy to put on. Although the length of the material might be intimidating at first, once you’ve practiced a few times you’ll be sure to get the hang of it. This wrap is perfect to hold your little one close while being able to use both your hands to get to those important tasks. Another reason to love this amazing wrap, and company, is their dedication to mothers all around the world. With every purchase they donate $1 to a nonprofit organization, “Every Mother Counts.” You can read more about it here.

2. Ergo Baby Carrier
I have to say, I LOVE my Ergo baby carrier. We got one when my little girl was just a few months old and it’s been a life saver on so many occasions. I would argue their 360 carrier is something every Mom needs on her registry. As your little one grows, so will their curiosity, so the option to turn them forward facing is amazing. The ergonomic design allows the baby to be comfortable, while supporting their back and hips correctly. The carrier will last from newborn, (with infant insert) to toddler years. In fact I still carry my almost 2-year old in it during walks and hikes.

6. Lalabu Soothe Shirt
Although you may not find a Lalabu soothe shirt on a traditional baby carrier list, I think they are perfect for those early days with a newborn. The simple design has the pouch built right into the shirt so you will never forgot your carrier again. If your babe is being fussy, just slip them in and both of you will benefit from the extra snuggles. That laundry might even get done too.
