Richard and Emily were like any set of parents to be- excited about meeting their new baby. They were frequent users of their home doppler, enjoying every minute they could connect with their daughter by listening to her heartbeat. But two weeks before her due date, Emily noticed she had not felt the baby move since the day before. Using the doppler, her worst fears were confirmed. She couldn’t find a heartbeat. After the doctors verified the absence of a heartbeat, Emily began the difficult task of delivering her stillborn daughter. To remember the short life of their baby girl, they enlisted the help of a family photographer to capture the moments after their daughter was born. Even though these images may make some people uncomfortable, these are precious moments for these proud parents. No one wants to image that stillborn babies are born, but this beautiful photography helps us focus on the love that still exists between the grieving parents and these tiny little ones.
