Mother’s Day is our next big holiday and most likely moms are the ones reading this post. Every mama celebrates Mother’s Day differently but we all have similar needs that non-moms may not understand. To help clear up any confusion, we’ve put this list together that you can forward to your significant other so you can have the best holiday yet. These are the things moms really want to do on Mother’s Day:
1. Sleep
For the love, please let us wake up on our own on Mother’s Day. Run interference with the kids and let us sleep in, take a nap and go to bed early if we want. Let us lounge in our PJ’s, watch a movie in bed and remember what it was like before those early morning wake up calls.
2. Not Cook
Even the woman who really enjoys cooking needs a break now and then. Moms don’t want to be responsible for breakfast, lunch, dinner or the millions of snacks between. Bring us breakfast in bed, feed the kids cereal, take us out to lunch and cook us dinner. We couldn’t be happier.
3. Get Out Of Diaper-Duty
It’s not THAT much to ask to be free of diaper duty, just for the day. It’d be nice to not be in charge of sniffing, changing and wiping just for the daylight hours. While we are at it, we’d like to do our OWN business in peace and quiet too. We’re locking the door and we aren’t going to feel bad about it. This is absolutely one of the things moms really want to do on Mother’s Day!
4. A Nice Fancy Coffee
We want a mocha, latte or anything that’s our fave from our local coffee shop and we aren’t even going to complain about how expensive it is. We also don’t want to share it.
5. Homemade Cards or Gifts
Gift cards and presents are wonderful, but nothing warms our hearts more than homemade cards and trinkets from our biggest treasures- our kids. Sure, we’d love some indulgent gifts but in the end, we’ll be happy with lots of hugs and words of love from our kiddos.
6. A Clean House
A neat and tidy house that we have no part in is always on the list. We want a break from cleaning, washing, picking up and scrubbing- but we don’t want everything to pile up until Monday when it becomes our responsibility to clean it ourselves. Spouses and kids- please clean the house!
7. Have Some Alone Time
We love our kids and our partners, but we are moms EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR. Some moms may need the entire day to themselves, and others just a nice few hours for a mani/pedi or shopping alone. The point is, we need some solo time to recharge and breathe. When we get back, we’ll gladly love on our family, but for now- give us some space!
8. To Feel Special
Every mom is different, but when it comes down to it, we want to feel special on Mother’s Day. Motherhood comes with many of its own rewards but there are tons of hard days. We can easily feel like we are failing, guilty of not being a better parent and just plain worn out. Make us feel special, loved and that we’re the only moms our kids will ever need.
