3. Find a Good Toothbrush and Toothpaste
There has been much debate over when children can and should use toothpaste containing fluoride. Recently the American Dental Association changed their stance and suggests using toothpaste with fluoride from the get-go. Be sure it’s a tiny amount, such as the size of a grain of rice, and increase as your child gets older. As soon as possible, teach them how to spit out their toothpaste and you won’t have to worry about them swallowing it. Depending on your child’s proclivity for allowing you to brush their teeth, find a brush with a long enough handle or a finger brush. Whatever works for you is what is best!
