Sometimes it can be hard to figure out what to give someone as a gift. Even if you know the person well, you can’t always gauge whether or not they will like what you give them. You have a pretty good chance of pleasing them, however, if you put together a special DIY basket full of their favorite things. I love putting together one-of-a-kind gifts because it allows me to be creative and choose several different items. This increases the chances of your gift being well received, because there are several small gifts wrapped inside a big one.
Whether you’re in need of a gift for someone’s birthday, anniversary or a holiday, these DIY baskets will show your friends and family how much you care. You can personalize these ideas to make them really special, which makes you a really wonderful gift giver!
1. Baking Basket
Know someone who loves spending their days in the kitchen? Maybe you’ve got a teen who has recently shown an interest in baking. A basket full of baking related items is a great gift for Martha Stewart wannabes. Instead of using a basket, start with a colander, and fill it with things like kitchen towels, cookie cutters, measuring cups and other baking utensils.
2. Artist Basket
Have a future Van Gogh you need to get a gift for? Start with a plastic basket and stuff it with art supplies like colored pencils, paintbrushes, a coloring book and a pair of scissors. You could also include scrapbook supplies like stickers or card stock.
3. Movie Night Basket
For people who are into movies, a movie night gift basket would be really fun! Fill up an empty popcorn bucket with DVDs, snacks, popcorn and even a movie theater gift card. They can enjoy a movie night from the comfort of their living room, or head to the big screen on date night.
4. Spa Basket
I know lots of moms who would love receiving a spa gift basket. It’s not as nice as going to an actual spa, but it’s nice enough to make them feel pampered. Between the dirty diapers, temper tantrums, potty accidents and refusal to eat veggies, moms (as well as other hardworking women) deserve a gift that lets them treat themselves to something nice. Use a cozy pair of slippers as the basket, and fill it with small beauty items like nail polish, an at-home face mask, bubble bath and foot creme.
5. Gardening Basket
Those with a green thumb will enjoy a gift that allows them to keep their garden growing. A garden hose can be wrapped up tightly to form a basket shape, and filled with gardening tools. Gloves, flower seeds, and a sprayer nozzle are all wonderful options for filling up a gardening gift basket with.
6. Home Improvement Basket
I don’t think dad would be disappointed with a Home Depot bucket full of goodies. If you want your husband to get to that “honey do” list, maybe some new tools will motivate him. Toss a shiny new screwdriver, some drill bits and a Home Depot gift card in the bucket, and you might be surprised how many home projects actually get finished!
