I am a huge fan of podcasts. I’m not sure how I did my first few years of motherhood without them! They make the mundane tasks feel more purposeful. Unloading the dishwasher? Listen to a podcast. Watching the kids play outside? Listen to a podcast. Need to drown out the backseat chatter of the minivan? Listen to a podcast. I have some that support my business, others that tell stories, but some of my favorites are the ones about motherhood — the ones that cause me to say “me too!”

The crazy thing is that I know many mamas who haven’t ever downloaded a podcast. We wanted to give you suggestions for the best podcasts for moms!

Podcasts for moms

1. Coffee + Crumbs

This was the first podcast I subscribed to. One of my favorite blogs announced that they were creating a podcast, and I had to check it out! I’m so glad I did because now I feel like I have a better glimpse into the lives of the writers and each podcast is relatable! The discussions are real and vulnerable, and there’s no “mommy shaming” allowed!

Here are some of my favorite episodes:

Episode 28: Long Days Of Small Things With Catherine McNiel

Episode 20: The Broken Way With Ann Voskamp

Episode 11: Catching Creativity With Nicole DeFord

Episode 04: Mommy Doesn’t Go To Work With Elise Cripe

Episode 02: Making Mom Friends With Melanie Dale

2. Risen Motherhood

This podcast fills me up spiritually! All the advice and topics are chosen based on what Christian mamas may be struggling with or where they need encouragement, A few topics are finding time in your day for God, feeling purpose in the mundane tasks, and how to include truths from the Gospel into our own lives and the lives of our littles.

Here are some of my favorite episodes:

EP. 64 : Making A Home: Decorating For The Glory Of God

EP. 53: Discerning Truth In A World Full Of Mom Advice

EP. 40: To-Do List And How To’s: Finding Practical Help In Motherhood

EP. 18: Freedom To Be The Mother God Created You To Be: Why Comparison Doesn’t Work

3. The Happy Hour

This episode always makes me feel like I’m sitting with another mom friend and getting to know her for the first time. Jamie Ivey is a funny and authentic host who brings on the BEST guests to interview! They talk about motherhood as well as life outside of motherhood to remind you that you are more than just a mom!

Here are some of my favorite episodes:

Episode 129: Rebekah Lyons

Episode 121: Erin Loechner

Episode 11: Shauna Niequist

Episode 10: Emily P. Freeman

4. The Mom Hour

This is the newest podcast I just started this week due to a recommendation from the Coffee + Crumbs podcast. I loved Sarah Powers advice in her interview and her humble approach to mamas! I am eager to listen to her and her co-host Megan Francis on all things motherhood! Their soul purpose of creating this podcast is to help offer moms encouragement and the confidence they need to be the best mamas they can be!

5. Magic Lessons

Sometimes I need a reminder that my dreams matter! Sure, I want to nurture the dreams of my children, but how can I genuinely do that if I don’t care about my own dreams? Elizabeth Gilbert does a great job inspiring her listeners through each of her podcasts interviewing dream chasers!

Here are some of my favorite episodes:

Magic Lessons Ep. 201: “You Have a Screaming, Not a Calling.” Featuring Sarah Jones

Magic Lessons Se. 1, Ep. 12: Brene Brown on “Big Strong Magic”

Magic Lessons Se. 1, Ep. 1: “Do What Ignites Your Soul”

Popular Episodes Worth Listening To

Podcasts are an excellent resource for mothers seeking guidance and relatable stories in their parenting journey. Among the favorites, "Coffee + Crumbs" dives into real conversations about motherhood, showcasing the stories of mothers who share their hit-or-miss experiences. Notable episodes include "Long Days of Small Things," which encourages listeners to embrace the beauty in everyday struggles, reminding us that we are not alone in this chaotic, wonderful journey.

Another engaging podcast that resonates with many moms is "The Mom Hour." Here, hosts Meghann and Sarah discuss practical advice for juggling various aspects of motherhood, including personal anecdotes that highlight common challenges. Episodes like "Making Mom Friends" provide insights on building community and connections with other mothers, proving that these friendships can serve as vital support systems during those long days of parenting.

Finding Strength Through Faith

Faith-based podcasts can empower mothers by offering encouragement and spiritual nourishment. "Risen Motherhood" is a standout in this genre, addressing the intersection of motherhood and Christian faith. Each episode tackles topics like integrating faith practices into daily routines, aiming to inspire moms to live purpose-filled lives amidst the busyness of motherhood.

The podcast also provides episodes that deal with common struggles such as managing time for God in a hectic schedule. Through discussions that combine scripture with relatable experiences, "Risen Motherhood" encourages mothers to find comfort in their faith and discover practical ways to incorporate gospel truths into their parenting, making the spiritual journey both accessible and enriching.

Creative Inspiration for Moms

For mothers seeking creativity in their lives, "Magic Lessons" presents an inspiring journey through artistic expression and personal growth. Hosted by Elizabeth Gilbert, the podcast allows guest artists to share their paths and the magic behind their creative processes. This podcast reminds moms of the importance of nurturing their inner artist, encouraging them to explore new avenues and hobbies.

Moreover, this show ignites a sense of community among creative mothers, offering them solace and inspiring them to embrace creativity in both small and significant ways. Episodes encourage listeners to unlock their creative potential, which can lead to a more balanced lifestyle where self-expression plays a vital role in managing the chaos that often accompanies motherhood.

Mompreneurship: Balancing Work and Family

As many moms transition into the realm of entrepreneurship, podcasts can serve as invaluable resources for finding balance and motivation. Numerous episodes across various mom-centric podcasts explore the challenges and triumphs of being a mompreneur, such as time management, work-life integration, and self-care. This content encourages mothers to pursue their passions while raising their families, inspiring listeners to view their initiatives as attainable goals rather than daunting tasks.

Additionally, discussions on topics like marketing strategies and networking within the community can equip mothers with the tools they need to grow their businesses effectively. By highlighting stories of successful mompreneurs who have navigated their careers alongside motherhood, these podcasts offer both inspiration and practical advice to help mothers cultivate their entrepreneurial spirits while remaining present for their families.

Building a Community of Support Among Moms

One of the most significant aspects of motherhood is the support network that mothers can build among themselves. Many podcasts focus on creating actionable steps to connect with fellow moms and foster genuine relationships. Whether it’s through playdates, online groups, or nurturing friendships born out of shared experiences, mothers can find strength and camaraderie that can help alleviate feelings of isolation.

These podcasts often encourage moms to step out of their comfort zones and seek local resources or online communities that align with their values. By engaging in these support networks, mothers can exchange resources, share their stories, and ultimately create lasting bonds that nurture both personal growth and a sense of belonging in their parenting journeys.
