The first few months with a new baby can be very difficult. If you are a first time parent, you often questions whether you are doing anything right, especially when it comes to handling a crying baby. A new parent will do just about anything to soothe a crying newborn, and many times all the things you read in books about infants are tossed out the window. Meet Dr. Robert Hamilton, a pediatrician in Southern California. He’s mastered what he calls “The Hold,” and he’s here to show you how to magically calm down your crying infant. Need I say more? Like any technique, The Hold will not work with every single child. But when you’re up in the middle of the night with an inconsolable baby, isn’t it worth giving this a try? I’ve read also that Dr. Hamilton suggests this works easier for dads, because moms can usually soothe by feeding (and I’m guessing the bigger hands help too!).
