Cancer is a disease that touches every one of us in some way. All of us can say we know someone who has battled cancer, or perhaps even we ourselves have fought courageously against it. Courtney Vashaw, a principal at a school in New Hampshire has recently found herself as a cancer patient. When she decided to tell her students that she would be gone for awhile to receive treatment, she never thought they would surprise her with an amazing gift. The seniors had been saving for their senior trip for several years, but when they found out their principal had cancer, they unanimously decided to give all their trip money to Ms. Vashaw. I hope all of us encounter someone in our lives that inspires us the the way that both these students and principal do. It’s obvious that being a principal is more than just a job for Ms. Vashaw, and she is making such an impact on these amazing students.
