A doula is someone who is present at the time of birth to support you during your labor. A common misconception regarding doulas is that they are only used when you are planning to have a natural, non-medicated birth. This is not the case! For those of us who have been labor, we know that sometimes the birth plan goes out of the window. However, having a doula can help you feel confident that you have someone in your corner keeping you as on track as possible. Many women will experience the dreaded shift change when giving birth in a hospital. But, with a doula you will always have a familiar face supporting you from beginning to end.
