4. Reassurance For Your Partner
As intense as labor can be for you, imagine how your partner feels standing there helpless? Surprisingly, a doula is there for your partner just as much as they are you for. They will reassure your partner that what you are going through is perfectly normal, and help them know exactly what it is that you would like them to do. Having a doula also means your partner can step out of the room, take a walk or grab a quick bite to eat, knowing they have left you in good hands. That is of course, if you let them 😉
5. Photos
During labor, quite honestly, the last thing on your mind is taking photos. So unless you have hired a birth photographer you may be happy to know most doulas are happy, and quite capable, to pick up a camera and capture the exciting moments for you. If this is something you would like, make sure you let them know a head of time.
6. Not as expensive as you may think!
Considering the importance of this life event, shelling out a few extra dollars is well worth it. Although it is an additionally cost, hiring a doula can range from $800-$2,500. When you think about it, can you really put a price on peace of mind?
