Let’s face it – as a woman there are lots of extra bathroom items we need to use that other people (i.e. MEN) normally wouldn’t. It’s a blessing and a curse all at the same time. Over the years as I’ve gotten older (and hopefully wiser) I have come to learn that there are just some things that I cannot live without when it comes to bathroom essentials. Of course, these are separate from the normal every day cotton swabs, toothpaste, makeup, etc., that we all use on a daily basis. I’m not referring to any of these because we already probably all use those items. The products I’m talking about are ones that you’ve probably never thought to keep in your bathroom, however I use all 4 of these items almost every single day, and I bet you will now, too.
1. Shower Caps
You’re probably laughing at this because chances are you haven’t seen a shower cap since you stayed at your grandma’s house back when you were 10-years-old. Well, I have news for you ladies – shower caps are incredibly useful and definitely a must in my bathroom. I don’t wash my hair every day, as I’m sure many of you don’t, because it’s not healthy for your hair. Also, I’m just lazy and HATE having to do my hair every single day. That means when I take a shower I have to get creative when it comes to not getting my hair wet. I used to put it up in a ponytail or bun, but water would somehow always splash it and the steam would make kinks in my hair when I had it up. Shower caps are miracle workers because you can put them over your hair without even having to put your hair up and it completely protects all your hair from the water. Trust me, it’s a lifesaver.
2. Baby Powder
Baby powder has SO many uses, even if you don’t have children. From making stinky shoes smell better, to helping heal a rash, to making your eyelashes look longer, it is something you NEED in your bathroom. My favorite way to use it is as a makeshift dry shampoo when I run out or just haven’t bought some for a while. All you have to do is sprinkle a little in your hair on the roots and you’ve got yourself some homemade dry shampoo. Plus, this stuff lasts way longer than dry shampoo ever will.
3. Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is one of those products that you see on the internet as being used for everything. That’s because it really does have some amazing abilities and uses, especially when it comes to beauty. You can moisturize your hair with it, make homemade shampoo with it, use it as a moisturizer on your skin, take your makeup off with it, use it for oil pulling so your teeth are healthier and whiter, and so much more. I always have this in my bathroom and I use it almost everyday for something. So go out and buy yourself a jar for your bathroom. You’ll be surprised at how often you reach for it.
4. Epsom Salt
One of the things we need most as working women and moms is to relax and recover. Epsom salt works wonders when it comes to easing pain and relaxation. Just throw a little bit of this in your nice hot bath and soak in it for a while. You’ll almost immediately feel more relaxed and you’ll notice that your pain has subsided, as well. This is especially great for sore muscles after a hard workout.
