5 Nail Designs That Are Easier Than You Think

I love having my nails painted, but sometimes just painting them a single color can get a little boring. I love trying new things on my nails, but if you’re ever tried any kind of nail art you know it’s a lot harder than it looks. Sure, those Pinterest tutorials make it look really easy, but when you try to do it yourself, you end up with one of those #PinterestFails. There are, however, a few nail designs that you can do that really are pretty simple and easy to do. I’ve done them myself many times. They may be simple, but they make a great impact and still look beautiful. So check these 5 designs out and try them for yourself.

1. Polka Dots

Polka dots are incredibly cute on everything, especially nails. The best part is that this is one of the easiest nail designs to do yourself, even for beginners. All you need is some sort of sharp or pointy object like a pencil or a toothpick. Just pour a small amount of nail polish out of the bottle onto a paper plate, then dip the pointy object in the paint, then onto your nails. You can put polka dots all over your nails, on just the tip, down the middle, or anyway you want.

2. Stripes

Even though stripes may look complicated, they’re really not when you use handy dandy tape. I have found that painter’s tape or nail art tape works the best when it comes to doing designs on your nails, but you can use any that you like. Simply paint a base color, then once it dries tape off a few stripes onto your nails, then do another color on top. Be sure to let each of the layers dry long enough so that when you pull the tape off, it won’t peel any of the paint off.

3. Angles

Painting angles on your nails is very similar to painting stripes on your nails. All you need is some tape to create the angles. You can make lots of different angles that go in lots of different directions. Just tape off your nail wherever you want to put an angle and you’re good to go.

4. Ombre

If you’re pretty new to nail art, you may want something a little more simple than angles, stripes, and polka dots. The great news is that you can create a really fun look on your nails by doing an ombre look. Just take 5 different colors that are in the same color family and paint them on your nails in a darkening order. It’s really easy to do, but looks a lot more interesting than one color.

5. One Different Color

If you don’t have 5 different colors to do an ombre look, you can still make your nails look fun by painting just one nail on each hand a different color. This look has been really popular over the past few years and won’t be going anywhere soon because it looks really fun, but is really simple to do. Just paint 4 out of 5 nails the same color, then paint the last nail a different color. My favorite is to paint the last nail a glitter color because it brings even more pop to your nail design.
