Going through a divorce is nothing short of hell. According to statistics, in Australia, the highest number of couples divorce after 4 years of marriage. Makes you wonder why. Getting a divorce means that your whole life is being turned upside down, the life you created and the dreams you had all went down. However, what’s even more difficult is dating after divorce.

You never even considered that you’ll need to get back into the dating game and all of the sudden here you are – dating again.

You must have tons of questions about dating today, you may be out of practice and you don’t have an idea where to start. This is where we come to the rescue. If you feel like you might be ready for dating again, there are some important factors you must first consider.

Here are 5 tips that will help you get back to the dating game after divorce.

dating again after divorce

1.    Make sure that you’re completely over your ex before dating again

What’s the point of dating if you’re still not over your ex. Before you start dating again, you need to start by working on forgetting the ex – regardless of what your feelings for them are.

You need to give yourself time to adapt to your new situation, rushing from one relationship into another has never been a good idea. Spend some time alone, reflect on what went wrong with your marriage, and don’t let anyone pressure you into getting back to dating so soon after the divorce.

2.    Talk to a therapist

If you feel like you need to talk to a professional about your feelings and your failed marriage, don’t be ashamed to do so.

The therapist will help you come to terms with your situation, they will let you know that a divorce is not the end of the world and most of all, they will help you understand relationships better.

If you aim to make your next relationship better, then maybe seeing a therapist is the best solution.

3.    Try online dating

If you aren’t sure where to start with dating, consider trying online dating first. Online dating is a great way to break the ice and start dating again. All you need to do is find a good dating app or site and start your online dating journey.

Search interned about how to create a good dating profile (you’ll find some great examples) and simply take a seat and get excited about dating again.

Currently, some of the most popular dating apps include Bumble, Hinge, Tinder, Clover, and so on.

4.    Hire an online agency

If online dating seems a bit too risky for you, hire a dating agency. Professionals from a dating agency are there to help you find the right date for you. You give them some information about yourself and about what qualities you’re looking for in a partner, and leave the rest to them.

They will find you a date that fits your profile and personality. All you need to do is have an open mind. If you live somewhere in the Sydney area, try contacting a trustworthy dating agency from Sydney.

5.    Have an open mind but be careful

Forget about having a type, maybe your ex was your type and it still didn’t work out. Think out of the box and have an open mind. Be honest and trust your gut.

If you manage to make a connection with someone, it doesn’t matter if they are your type or not. On the other hand, if you get a bad vibe from someone, stay away from them. Also, don’t overshare on your first date, and don’t talk too much about your ex either. Take things slowly and enjoy being single again.

It’s never too late to date again. It may take some time before you’re ready to date. It also may take some time before you’re ready to trust and open up to someone again.

Don’t rush and don’t let anyone rush you into anything. Simply, make sure that this time around you get your happily ever after.
