Since my husband and I have been married, we have always lived in small apartments and houses. If you’ve ever lived somewhere small that has limited space for decoration, furniture, and storage, you know how frustrating it can be. It can make it extremely hard to organize and clean and even harder to keep it that way. You have to get creative when it comes to finding places to put things.

Thanks to Pinterest, you can find some amazing hacks that will help make your incredibly small home a little more functional. Here are 7 big hacks for your small house.

1. Hide Ugly Storage With Curtains

If you have an unsightly area in your small house where you are storing a large amount of items, hang some curtains on the wall to cover up the mess. When people come over, pull the curtains closed and no one will ever see all the storage you have behind there. It completely covers it up in a beautiful way.

2. Ceiling Shelves

If you don’t have a lot of wall space in your home, try hanging some shelves up high on the wall, close to the ceiling. This way, they won’t get in the way of any furniture or items hanging on the walls and gives you all the wall space you need.

3. Add Storage Behind Closet Doors

Another great way to hide storage is to put it behind the doorways either in a room or in this case, in the closet. They don’t have to be very deep, in fact they can only be a few inches deep, so they won’t interfere with any walls. Either way it will allow you to store extra toys, books, or other items you may need to store, but don’t have anywhere else to put.

4. Extra Sliding Pantry Storage

It’s no secret that most pantries are way too small for all the food we need to put in them. And using the other cabinets in your kitchen isn’t an option because you need that space for all your pots, pans, bowls, cups, etc. A great way to squeeze a little more storage out of your kitchen is to build this awesome sliding pantry shelving that goes between the wall and your refrigerator. It utilizes space that’s already there not being used, so it makes the perfect storage solution.

5. Rolling Under Bed Storage

One of the largest wasted spaces in our homes in the space underneath our beds. You can easily build some rolling storage under each bed in your home to store toys, extra clothes, shoes, and anything else you might need. Since it rolls, it makes it so much easier to access so you can actually utilize the storage when you need it.

6. Build Half A Night Stand

If you don’t have enough space in your room for a nightstand, try cutting the nightstand in half and mount it to the wall. This will allow you to still have some sort of storage next to your bed for your alarm clock, a lamp, your phone, etc., without taking up too much room.

7. Hang Towel Rods On The Back Of The Door

For your small bathrooms, instead of hanging the towel rods on the limited wall space, hang them on the back of the door. This makes them still easily accessible, but saves you the room on your walls.
