5 Cute Dresses To Wear To All Your Summer Weddings

I really like going to weddings. I’ve always enjoyed getting dressed up and celebrating people in love. But one thing that’s hard about going to weddings is figuring out what to wear. You want to look nice, but you don’t want to overshadow the bride. You want to dress up, but you don’t want to be overdressed. For summer weddings, it can be even more challenging because summer is such a casual season.

But you can dress casually and still be wedding appropriate. Depending on how formal the wedding is, you can get away with wearing a cute summer dress that has just enough glam. Check out these ones that are perfect for all the weddings you have to attend this summer.

1. Connected Apparel Lace Asymmetrical Popover Dress

This double layer dress is feminine and elegant. It’s available in a light blush color or navy, so you can choose which works best for your coloring. Wear it with a pair of casual metallic sandals for a fun pop of shine, and add a long coordinating necklace for extra dazzle.

Head over to Kohl’s to get this pretty piece.

2. Nanette Lepore Lace Paneled Drop Waist Dress

With the bright yellow color and detailed design, this dress doesn’t need any accessories. The summery hue and lace paneled skirt give it a bold, youthful look that is still classy. Throw on your favorite pair of heels with this and you’re good to go!

Snatch this vibrant dress up from The Real Real.

3. SL Fashions Layered Shift Dress

This layered chiffon shift dress is fun and sexy. The halter style beaded neckline draws attention to the shoulders and the draped front gives the dress extra character. It’s available in fuchsia and black, but I suggest not wearing black to a wedding- especially in the summer. Throw on a pair of sassy heels that match the beaded neckline for a pulled together look.

You can find this bold beauty at Macy’s.

4. Ralph Lauren Charmeuse Shift Dress

If you’re attending a summer wedding that is semi-formal or casual, this dress is a great choice. The design is simple, but you could easily dress it up with a gold belt, heels and jewelry. The chocolate color would work well for women with a warm color palette, and you could definitely wear this dress again for other occasions.

Stop by Macy’s to pick yourself up this versatile piece.

5. Halston Heritage Embellished Pleated Dress

The one shoulder look is a hot trend right now, and the pleated detailing makes this dress really fun. I love the pink color and the shoulder embellishment. You could wear this with a few simple pieces of jewelry, or do without. A sparkly choker would add an element of elegance, and coordinating heel sandals would really make you shine.

Choosing the Right Dress for a Summer Wedding

When it comes to selecting the perfect dress for a summer wedding, the fabric and color play crucial roles. Look for dresses made from breathable materials like cotton or linen, as these fabrics will keep you comfortable throughout the day, especially during warm weather. Bright, vibrant colors or floral prints can also enhance your wedding guest look, making you feel festive and in tune with the joyous atmosphere.

Additionally, consider the wedding's theme and location when choosing your dress. For a garden wedding, a flowy, knee-length dress might be ideal, while a more formal venue may call for a tailored gown. Remember, it's essential to balance style with practicality; ensuring you can comfortably navigate the venue, whether it’s indoors or outdoors, is key to enjoying the celebration.

Accessorizing Your Wedding Guest Dress

Accessorizing your dress appropriately makes a significant difference in completing your wedding guest look. Select jewelry that complements your dress without overpowering it; dainty earrings or a simple bracelet can add elegance without drawing focus away. A stylish clutch or handbag can also provide functionality while being a lovely accent to your outfit.

Don’t forget about the importance of shoes! Choose footwear that not only matches your dress but is also comfortable for hours of standing and dancing. A pair of chic wedges or block heels can be perfect for outdoor weddings, offering both style and practicality to navigate grass or uneven surfaces.

Post-Wedding Considerations: What to Do with Your Dress

After attending a summer wedding, you may find yourself wondering what to do with your dress. If the dress holds sentimental value or if you truly love it, consider having it altered for future wear. A quick hem adjustment could turn a formal dress into a casual piece suitable for brunch or afternoon gatherings.

If you decide to part ways with the dress, think about donating it to a charitable organization or reselling it online. This not only helps to declutter your wardrobe but also contributes to a more sustainable approach to fashion. Plus, you might give another person the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful outfit for their special occasion.
