7. Slimline Boxes

If you need a system that encourages you to keep only a certain amount of items, then this box system may be for you. These boxes found at Uline can be as inexpensive as $1.68 each, and help limit just how much you save for your child. You can do 1 box per school year, and make sure that anything you save can fit inside. It’s also an easy way to be able to easily search for specific documents, and a simple way to pass along your child’s work to them when they are an adult one day.

8. Use it As Seasonal Artwork

Your children tend to do extra projects around the holidays, leaving you with an excess of Fall and Winter artwork. Instead of just filing away or throwing in the trash when the holidays are over, laminate the best pieces and use them as decorations. This will preserve the artwork, give them the recognition they deserve by begin on full display and serves a better purpose then just tossing them in the “to be saved” pile.

9. Make Portfolio Folders

If you have an artist in the house, chances are you have large pieces of art that you have trouble storing. You don’t want to fold it, but also don’t want huge pieces of poster board floating around the garage, taking up all available flat surfaces. You can easily store art by making your own portfolio! Just take 2 pieces of poster board, tape them together on 3 sides, and punch holes to feed ribbon through for a handle. Voila! Artwork is preserved and you can simply mark your child’s name and school year on the outside for easy organization.
