There are 9 long months of anticipation when you’re pregnant. Hitting one milestone after another, waiting for that perfect “due date” to arrive. I remember the excitement that built with every flutter of movement. What I didn’t really know, is everything that happens in the last month. The one when you are huge and feel like there cannot be any more space left for the baby to grow. And where you’re actually terrified that you may birth a giant if you are pregnant one single day longer. Here are there painful truths about that last month of baby growin’.
1. Time Stands Still
Still. Like really still. While the rest of your pregnancy flew by, welcome to the longest month of your life. No matter how many times people told me that my girl would come out one way or another, I was convinced she would be stuck in there and jabbing me in the ribs forever. And if you are lucky enough to start your maternity leave a few weeks before your due date, you better get your Netflix queue ready as you are about to binge watch your days away.
2. People Are Rude
Yep. Unfortunately, this is a fact. At this point even goodnatured jesting is too much for hormonal pregnant lady. The worst one I think is when people like to point out how big you are. “Why thank you, I didn’t realize I looked like a beached whale.” Thanks for pointing it out. Or when they ask, “Oh, you are STILL pregnant?” Like you haven’t already tried every home remedy there is to kick this kid out, and it’s your fault you are still pregnant. I think it’s a shock that any one of us can go a whole day without punching someone in the face. Or maybe thats just me.
3. Sleep Disappears
While people are still telling you to “sleep while you” can because, “life will never be the same again.” What really is happening is the need to pee all night long and finding it difficult to turn over, or get the least bit confutable. Not to mention the worry and stress about the life-changing event happening just mere weeks away.
