4. Use What You Already Have
If you find yourself wanting or needing to buy something look first and see if you already have see something that will work. For example, if you think you need a new coat for the winter, look in all the nooks and crannies of your closet. If you don’t already have a coat, well then, you probably should go buy one. If you have a coat, or two, or three, don’t waste your money buying more. Just use the ones you already have. Trust me, you bought them once which means you loved them before and you can love them again.
5. Avoid The Sale/Clearance Aisle!
At all costs, when you are out shopping, avoid the sale or clearance aisles. If you’re anything like me when I see a really good deal you usually end up buying the item because it was on sale and such a good price! Trust me, that’s not a good enough argument as to why you can spend money. The sale aisle is just too tempting. If you shop in the regular priced areas the price tags will most likely dissuade you from buying things.
6. Shop Alone
We all have that one friend that tells us to buy everything and anything under the sun when you shop with her. You know who I’m talking about. Whenever possible, leave your buddy at home when you need to go shopping. Just because she tells you to buy something because it looks adorable on you, does not mean you need it. Head to the stores yourself. That way, you won’t have anyone to talk you into buying anything you don’t really need.
