Ever feel like you’re growing out of your home? It can get exhausting looking around your house and seeing “stuff” everywhere. It makes everything more difficult whether it’s finding certain paperwork, cleaning, or doing laundry. Why not simplify your life a little and throw away some of your stuff? I know you may think that sounds a little extreme, but I guarantee you there are items in your home that you haven’t looked at or even used for months and maybe even years. Which, then, begs the question – why keep it? Here are 10 things that you can and probably should throw away today to free yourself from all the extra clutter and stress you don’t need in your life.
1. Old Magazines
You know that stack of magazines you have sitting on the side of your sofa that you leave there because you think you’ll eventually get around to reading them? Well, I have news for you – you will never have time to read all of those magazines and neither will the guests who will be sitting in your home for only a few minutes to a few hours. It’s time to throw those puppies away! If you’re really attached to them, just throw away all the ones that are older than a few months. There’s no need to keep magazines from a few years ago. If you haven’t looked at them by now, you’re not ever going to.
2. Receipts/Bills
There is very good reason to keep receipts, bills, and invoices….for a time. If you have a receipt that’s from last year, throw it away. You can’t return anything with it now and what good is it doing laying in a desk? The only important finance paperwork you need to keep for long periods of time is anything relating to taxes. Those you should keep for at least 7 years. But your Target receipt from 8 months ago doesn’t need to be taking up room in your desk.
3. Expired Makeup
You know that makeup container with all the items you don’t use on a day to day basis, but use every few months? Well, chances are, most of the makeup in there is expired. Go through all your makeup and throw anything away that’s expired. It’s not healthy to use on your skin and if it’s really that old, you’re most likely not using it very much anyways, so I guarantee you’re not going to miss it.
