4. You Use The Word “Y’all”
When most people think of southern lingo, the word “y’all” comes to mind. Just about everyone in the south uses the word, and for mamas, it works its way into our daily dialogue with our children. You find yourself saying things like, “Y’all better hurry because we’re going to be late,” or, “Did y’all finish eating your supper?”
5. You Talk About Jesus A Lot
There’s a reason that the southern United States is known as the Bible Belt. Down south, people are all about Jesus. We take our kids to church on Sundays. Bible studies are held on Wednesday nights. We say prayers before bedtime and ask those who are struggling if we can pray for them.
6. Your Children Own A Pair Of Cowboy Boots
Even if you don’t own a pair of cowboy boots yourself, every southern mama gets a pair for her kids. I actually had a pair as a child that I passed down to my son, and he loves wearing them. There’s nothing cuter than tiny tots walking around in a pair of children’s size cowboy boots.
