I love getting together with friends for a BBQ, cookout or other social gatherings. Holidays like Memorial Day and July 4th are great times for a backyard BBQ, but you don’t need a holiday in order to spend time together outside of your house. All you need is an amazing deck or back porch that is inviting. Not everyone has the space for an outdoor deck, but these 5 fabulous backyard decks and porches should definitely give you inspiration for renovating yours if you do have the space.

1. Boho Screened Porch
This actually used to be a she-shed, and now it’s a fabulously chic screened in porch. It looks like it belongs in a home decorating magazine! I love the combination of prints and textures, and the ceiling fan and string lights are a great touch. It looks so cozy and peaceful! Did someone say book club meeting area?

2. Ranch Style Renovation
The focal point of this deck- the swing bed- is what makes this space so amazing! Can’t you just imagine laying there with your favorite book or magazine, swinging gently as the sounds of nature surround you? Ok, so it would probably be more like your kids pushing you on the swing and laughing as you try to get five minutes of peace, but it still looks really pretty!
Check out Mobile Bay Magazine, which shares how this deck and outdoor swing bed were constructed.

3. Natural Elements
With a fish print rug, a plant on a corner table and colors reminiscent of the outdoors, this patio design is all about nature. I love the combination of colors and textures. This space really comes to life with all of the different elements. You could totally re-create this look by upcycling items like side tables, a welcome mat or folding chairs.

4. Zen-sational Greenery
I don’t practice yoga, but I would totally use this deck to do it. It’s so zen and relaxing. The tribal looking rug really stands out, while the greenery adds texture and color to the space. I bet the air is so fresh and the wood probably smells nice and rustic. This is totally OHM-azing, am I right?

5. Trendy and Modern
You may or may not know that I love rainbows, which means I love bright colors, which means this little patio is right up my alley. The vibrant hues add so much character, as well as the wood paneled walls and the flooring (is that tile or concrete? I don’t know, but it looks fabulous!). There’s color, there’s texture, there’s flowers, when do I get to come over and nap on those stylish throw pillows?
If you like bright colors too, especially turquoise, you’ve got to check out House of Turquoise for more decorating and design ideas!
