Most of us have that one bathroom in our house where when you go inside you feel like the walls are starting to close in on you because it’s so small. Small bathrooms are a very common design problem in a lot of people’s homes and most people don’t know how to decorate them to help make them look less like a tiny box. There are, however, some great ways to decorate your bathroom that will help give an illusion that your bathroom is bigger than it actually is. Here are 10 ways you can help make your small bathroom look larger than life.

1. Paint The Walls

If you have a small bathroom, the best way to make it look bigger is to keep the paint on the walls and ceiling a light color. This will trick the eye into thinking that the space is actually larger than it really is. If you paint the walls a dark color, it will create an illusion that the room is smaller and it can sometimes feel like the room is closing in on you.

2. Add Colorful Accessories

Since keeping your walls light in color is a must for small bathrooms, a great way to add fun, bold colors is in your accessories. Towels, vases, floor mats, baskets, or any other decorative pieces you want. Have fun choosing bright colors that will catch the eye. These type of accessories will bring in the dose of fun and decoration to a small and boring bathroom.

3. Pedestal Sink

If you want the room to look like there is more square footage than there actually is, opt for a pedestal sink instead of a bulky vanity. This will free up floor space and make the room seem bigger. There is a drawback to using a pedestal sink, though, and that is that you will lose storage you would normally have in a vanity. So be aware of that if you choose to incorporate a pedestal sink into your bathroom.
