4. It’s comfortable.

Women who have home births do it for many reasons but a big one is being in the comfort of your own home. Nothing beats using your own bathroom and not having to slip on flip flops to walk there, and your own bed is ten times more comfortable then a hospital one. You can access the kitchen when you want (no hospital food!), and use all your favorite pillows. It’s private and you create many memories.

5. You Call The Shots

In a  home birth, you get to make the big decisions. You can hold your newborn baby as long as you want because there won’t be a doctor or nurse taking them away for tests. You don’t have to hop in a wheelchair and get shuffled from room to room. You can feed him however and whenever you want without someone telling you what to do. You have to feel comfortable with doing this things and trusting your midwife to guide you if you want a home birth to be a good option for you. If you feel safe in the hands of a doctor, that’s ok! There’s nothing wrong with opting for a hospital birth and letting someone else make those decisions for you so you can just focus on your new family.

6. It’s safe

Many women fear the home birth process because of potential things that can wrong. But no midwife would ever jeopardize the safety of a mother or baby, and would gladly get you to a hospital if there were any complications. It’s also safe because you are more than likely already a good candidate for the home birth process to begin with, and have a reduced chance of something going awry. Finally a good certified midwife is very well versed in births, sometimes more than an OB depending on how many births they’ve assisted with.
