4. Play Area
A big difference between a toddler room and nursery is that your child should have some room to play. Since you’re probably removing furniture (changing table or rocking chair) you should have ample room to add a cute rug and some of their toys that have been cluttering up your living room. This is a great place to put their toy kitchen, train table or even a reading nook. The main goal is to provide a fun place your child feels comfortable in calling their own and having fun.
5. Storage
Speaking of having more toys in your toddler’s room, you will also need to step up your storage game. Now that you don’t have a baby anymore, you are probably getting a glimpse into your future and your teenager’s messy room. Invest in some handy storage pieces like book shelves, cube storage, baskets and bins to keep the mess at bay. Your child will have a place to put everything and you won’t end up breaking your neck tripping over a train set.
6. New Paint
If you went with a traditional pastel color for your nursery, it may be a good time to brighten up your toddlers room with some fresh paint. You can paint just an accent wall or the entire room, just pick a color that adds some personality to your child’s bedroom. Make sure it’s one that they like and that you can stand for a few years (no neons!).
