10. Cabinets Make Great Hiding Spots
Sometimes when I’m cooking dinner, I let my kids play with the pots and pans. I leave the cabinet doors open so that they can entertain themselves while I try to maintain what’s left of my sanity. I guess they’ve learned that going into the cabinets themselves is a great way to hide from mama!
11. Things Aren’t Always What They Seem
My son doesn’t actually understand what flipping the bird at someone means. However, he has given us the finger a few times either because he had a boo-boo on it that he wanted to show us, or he discovered he could stick it out by itself and thought it was cool. While I generally perceive his innocent actions as having a deeper meaning, I’ve realized that children are acutely aware of what we say and do around them, so unless we make a big deal out of something innocent, our children won’t feel the need to repeat it.
12. Pigtails Are Just Ridiculous
I always wanted a little girl so I could dress her up and style her hair so cute! Now that I have a girl, it’s a battle getting her into clothes and styling her hair. She’d rather run around barefoot in a diaper with hair falling in her eyes. The days I manage to get a ponytail in her hair, I feel I’ve succeeded. The days I get pigtails in her hair, I feel like an Olympic gold medalist! Halfway through the day, they either loosen up and start to fall out, or she pulls them out and ends up looking like Albert Einstein stuck his finger in a light socket!
