Carving pumpkins is a favorite past time for many people during the autumn holidays. It reminds us of when we were kids having our own pumpkin carving party with friends and family. While it is a really fun activity to do, it’s also a really messy one. I’ll be honest I kind of dread carving pumpkins each year simply because it makes such a giant mess. Luckily, many genius people have come up with ways to decorate pumpkins without actually carving them. Most of the time, these are a lot less messy and much quicker to make as well. If you’re looking for fun, festive ways, other than carving, to decorate your pumpkins this year, here are 12 of the best ideas.
1. Ribbons Gallore
How adorable do these pumpkins decorated with ribbon look? I love the contrast between the black ribbon and orange pumpkin. The look is fairly simple, yet very striking to look at. These are incredibly easy to make and would only require ribbon, glue, and scissors. You’ll just simply glue the ribbon at the top near the stem, then run the ribbon down the side of the pumpkin and glue it on the bottom. Definitely simple enough for even the not so crafty people out there.

2. Washi Tape Pumpkins
If you don’t want to commit to cutting and gluing a bunch of ribbon, you can get the same effect with washi tape! I am amazed by all the uses that washi tape has. I never thought to put any on my pumpkins, but I have to admit I can’t wait to try this out myself. I always have extra washi tape laying around and this would certainly be quick and easy to do.

3. Gauzy Mummy Pumpkin
If you want to completely transform your pumpkin, then try your hand at this cute gauzy mummy pumpkin. His little face is so adorable and this would go perfect with all your Halloween decor. You would never even know there’s a pumpkin hiding underneath all that gauze if it weren’t for the stem at the top. What a creative way to decorate a pumpkin without all the carving.
