However when all the toys are old news and they come to you with boredom on their faces, it’s time to get creative! 1. Squirty Sidewalk Chalk
To start off, this activity has the potential to be messy so make sure your kids are in play-friendly clothes that you don’t mind ruining. Next, you will need 6 squirt bottles, white vinegar, food coloring or washable paint, baking soda and cornstarch. In 3 of the bottles, mix equal parts baking soda and cornstarch to 2/3rds of the bottle. You will make one yellow, blue and red colored bottle so drop the desired color in each bottle and stir with a spoon. Then fill the remaining 1/3 with water and shake well. You will use the other 3 bottles and fill entirely with vinegar and the same yellow, blue and red colors. Then send the kids out to see what happens when they combine colors and even more fun, see the difference between the chalky and vinegar bottles.
