4. Say Yes More Than No
If I had a penny for how many times I’ve said “No” since my toddler was alive, I’d be a millionaire. It’s something I’m trying to change because I know I personally feel defeated when I’m told no consistently. When we say it to our toddlers, we are usually doing it to prevent an accident, not just to be mean. However, turning a negative into a positive will go a long way in teaching our kids about acting appropriately. Try and rephrase statements so they are in a positive light, such as “Let’s play with one of your toys instead of mommy’s car keys,” instead of just a plain “no.”
