3. Margarine
In 1869, the world saw the creation of Margarine, an imitation butter. It is a vegetable-based product that is low in saturated fat, unlike butter. Remember back in the day, when the message was “saturated fats are evil!”? Well, now we know a little bit more about how we process saturated fats and we’ve discovered that like most products, consuming butter in small amounts is actually just fine. Margarine is full of trans fats (the new “evil”) and chemicals that actually can make it difficult to lose weight. Butter has 1 ingredient- milk or cream from cows. While you may be losing the calories by switching to margarine, you are actually consuming far more chemicals than you ever will by eating butter.
