I’ll admit, I love makeup, but I am clueless when it comes to knowing how to apply it. I often find myself scouring Pinterest for the best makeup products and how to apply them. I feel like a 12 year old girl trying to discover all the tips and tricks of how to make my face look flawless. Even though I may not be an expert when it comes to makeup, I have learned some great tips that I use every day. I’ve noticed since I have started doing these 7 things that I get a lot more compliments on my makeup and that I am more please with how I look on a day to day basis. So, check them out and maybe you’ll have the same results.
1. Wear Moisturizer
If you’re noticing that your face makeup is making your skin look dry, then start applying moisturizer to your face every day before you put your makeup on. After you’ve applied the moisturizer, wait a few minutes to let it soak in before applying your face makeup. Otherwise, it might end up looking oily, and that’s never a good thing either.
Hydrated moisturized skin makes it so much easier to apply make-up, & hide flaws, pimples, & redness-especially when you wear cleaner version makeup lines 🍃 such as @100percentpure I noticed when I first put that foundation on it emphasized even the smallest dry flaky areas, I was advised to wear moisturizer under, so I did that… It made it worse, I looked cakey & still flakey…as is I’m not a fan of layering moisturizer or creams before makeup because it makes me feel & look gunky 😝 The point is to be able to vanish blemishes seamlessly, not emphasize them with extra layered product. So here’s my trick to achieve a smooth, natural finish while still moisturizing- Apply moisturizer at least 45 minutes before putting on foundation/powder Do other things, hair anything else in the meantime, when your ready- Use a toner ( I used non-alcohol hydrating witch hazel) put on a cotton pad and gently wipe off excess cream You should be left with a moisturized clean face, making it easier to blend in makeup without looking dry, gunky, or flaky 💕 This picture is straight from my camera, non-filtered taken today post makeup 😝
2. Heat Your Eyelash Curler
Have you ever noticed that using an eyelash curler doesn’t really curl your lashes, at least for not very long? Next time you curl your lashes, try heating it up with your blow dyer for a few seconds until its warm, then curl your lashes. Your lashes will actually curl and stay curled because of the heat! This is quite possibly my very favorite makeup tip and one that I use everyday.
Hold your blow dryer next to your lash curler for 3-5 seconds. The heated curler will keep your eye lashes flirty all day long! #healthandglow #eyelashcurler #flirtyeyelashes #makeuptips #sexyeyelashes A photo posted by Health & Instagram (@healthandglow) on
3. Apply Foundation To Lips Before Lipstick
Wearing lipstick can be frustrating because it seems like before you’ve even left the house it’s already coming off. To help it stay put, apply a little foundation or concealer to your lips before putting on your lipstick. This will create a base for your lip color and will help it last longer.

4. For Tired Eyes, Apply Brown Mascara On Bottom Lashes
We all have those days where our eyes look a little more tired than we would like. Heck, as a mom, that’s probably every day for me! To help make your eyes look more alert, wear brown mascara on your bottom lashes and black on the top. This will keep your lower eye looking lighter than the top and will draw the attention to your top lashes.

5. Apply Concealer In A “V” Shape
If you have bags under your eyes and need to cover them up, apply your concealer in a “V”shape directly under your eye instead of the usual U shape. This will reflect more light and make your face look brighter and more awake.

6. Wear Either Dark Eyes Or Dark Lips – Not Both
Wearing both dark lipstick and dark eye makeup can actually make you look a little like a clown. They don’t balance very well, and it just ends up looking like too much makeup. Instead, opt for either/or. If you want to wear bold lips, then keep your eye makeup light and natural. If you want to have the dark, smokey eyes for a night out, opt for a more natural, nude lip shade.

7. Fill In Eyebrows
If you have thin or even non existent eyebrows, filling them in with an eyebrow pencil or color can do wonders for your face. It will make you look more awake, thinner, and it will define your face.
