Does anyone ever get sick of seeing really awesome hacks for things? I mean, how could you? They’re so useful! I love it when I stumble upon new ways to use something that I never would have thought of before. Hacks just make all of our lives easier and as a working mom, I’m all about making my life easier. I’m sure we all have some plastic wrap in our home and only use it to cover food, right? Well, what if I was about to blow your mind and tell you that you can actually use it in many other ways? Check out these 8 great hacks for plastic wraps, then thank me later.

1. Save Ice Cream From Freezer Burn

If, for some reason you are crazy enough not to eat ice cream before it gets freezer burn on it, one, you’re crazy, and two, you’ll be so excited to learn that you never have to deal with freezer burned ice cream again. All you have to do is place some plastic wrap directly on top of the ice cream and around the inside of the carton. This will seal the ice out and keep it from forming on the ice cream.

2. Keep Bananas From Turning Brown

I hate when I buy bananas and then two days after I’ve had them home they turn brown! I feel like we waste so many bananas because we don’t eat them in time before they turn brown and go bad. And if I buy less bananas, then of course I run out of them too quickly. To help keep your bananas fresher, longer, wrap some plastic wrap around the stems. For some reason, it slows down the browning process so you and your family can enjoy your delicious fruit.

3. Keep Kid’s Cups From Spilling

Ever find yourself in a jam when you’re at a friend’s house who doesn’t have any kid friendly cups and your child is begging for a drink? A safe option is to take a regular cup, put some Press’n Seal tightly over the top of the cup, then poke a straw through it. This creates a strong seal that will keep it from spilling if it’s tipped over, which allows you to enjoy your time while you’re spending time with your friend.

4. Organize Jewelry When Moving

I don’t know if you’ve ever moved enough to be bothered by packing and organizing jewelry, but speaking from experience it is seriously frustrating! If you just throw it all in a box, it gets all tangled and maybe even lost. Next time you move, try laying out some plastic wrap, then lay your jewelry on top of it, then press another sheet of plastic wrap on top of the jewelry and on the bottom sheet. This will keep your jewelry in place so it won’t slide around and get tangled with any other pieces.

5. Keep Refrigerator Shelves Clean

I don’t know about you, but I absolutely hate cleaning my refrigerator. It’s one of the chores that I dread doing. I recently found this hack, decided to give it a try, and guess what? It works fabulously. All you have to do is take some Press’n Seal and line your refrigerator shelves with it. It sticks perfectly to the shelves so it won’t move around on you. Then, when something spills or it needs to be cleaned, just tear up the Press’n Seal and throw it away. It’s that simple.

6. Protect Clothes From Liquids When Traveling

If you’ve ever traveled somewhere where you gain elevation, I’m sure you’ve learned the hard way that anything liquid will explode from the pressure and get all over everything else. A great and easy way to prevent this from happening is to take the lids off the bottles of the liquid substances, then place a piece of plastic wrap over the top, then screw the lid back on. This will prevent the liquid from spilling out of the bottle and it will save everything else that’s packed with it.

7. Make Your Own Fruit Fly Trap

At our last house we had a really bad fruit fly problem. It seemed like no matter how fresh the fruit was and no matter where I put it, we would always end up with a few fruit flies buzzing around. I tried this very trick and it worked great. Just cut up some fruit and put it in a cup or bowl. You don’t need much, just a few pieces will do. Then take some plastic wrap and cover the lid of the cup or bowl and then poke a small hole in the top with a knife. I know it seems impossible that the fruit flies will actually get through the hole, but trust me, they do! They get trapped inside the cup, end up dying and you no longer have fruit flies!

8. Get A Marbled Nail Polish Look

I have to say, I am actually quite excited to try this look on my own nails. The best part is that it’s SO simple! To start, paint your nails a base color. Here, they did grey. Then, once that is completely dry, paint over that color with a new color. Here, they did blue. While the top color is still wet, crumble up some plastic wrap and place it on top of your nails, then remove it and you’re left with the marbled look! How cool is that?
