4. Carry A Flashlight
There may be some streets and/or homes that are not very well lit. Carry a flashlight with you so you and your child can see everything clearly. This will help them avoid tripping over things, running into items or other kids, and will help drivers see your child as they drive down the street.

5. Use Sidewalks
Always use sidewalks when walking down the street. It will keep you out of every car’s way as they drive. If there are no sidewalks, walk on the left side of the street facing the oncoming traffic. This way you can better see where the cars are driving and will help you to avoid being in their way.

6. Walk, Don’t Run
It’s always safest to walk while trick or treating instead of running. The more your child runs, the more likely they will be to trip and fall and seriously hurt themselves. It will also help them stay more alert when it comes to seeing cars backing out of driveways or driving down the street. If they run there’s a possibility they may end up darting in front of a car endangering themselves.
